With a strong performance at the BC Cross Country Championships, Kerry Kazuta, of Point Grey TFC, was selected to the BC team for the National Cross Country Championships, taking place in Guelph, Ontario, on November 27th 2010.
Kazuta placed 9th at the BC Cross Country Championships, which were held at Aldergrove Lake Park, in Aldergrove, BC, on October 30.
It is the first selection to a BC team for Kazuta, and the first for a Point Grey TFC athlete as well.
So far this season, the North Burnaby native has notched a 24:48 8-kilometer personal best at the Charles Bowles Invitational in Salem, OR, and kicked to a win at the Frank Reynold's Memorial Cross Country Meet in North Vancouver.
Last year, while competing for UBC, Kazuta was team captain of the cross country and track and field teams, and qualified for the national championships in both sports. On the track, he lowered his 5,000-meters time to 14:56 at the Beach Invitational, in Long Beach, CA, and ran 31:40 for a win in the 10,000-meters at the Ralph Vernacchia Invitational in Bellingham, WA.
