Marek Jedrzejek

 

Marek Jedrzejek has been involved at every level of international competition, coaching at the 2000 Olympic Games in Sydney, acting as Canadian head coach at six Cross Country World Championships, three FISU Games, and is the former Athletics Canada off-track coordinator for cross country and road running.

 

Jedrzejek has been at University of British Columbia since 1987, first as head coach of the cross country team, then the head coach of the track & field team in 2001. He has developed both teams into perennial top 10 teams in the NAIA.

 

Most recently, in 2011, the T-Birds were 2nd (combined) at the NAIA Cross Country Championships, with the women placing third and the men sixth overall. In 2010 the T-Birds finished eighth (men) and 14th (women) at the NAIA Cross Country Championships, and in 2009, the teams finished eighth (women) and the ninth (men). In addition to their more recent NAIA success, Jedrzejek led the 'Birds to a CIS title in cross country in 1993 when he was named the coach of the year.

 

In 2011, UBC had 6 All-Americans on the track. On the track in 2010, the T-Bird men notched a program best 3rd overall placing while the women were 10th as UBC brought home an impressive four individual gold medals.
