NCAA Champion Sage Watson Turns Pro

By Adam Kopet, DyeStat Editor

Sage Watson won the NCAA 400-meter hurdles title in Eugene two weeks ago. Total Sports US announced Tuesday it had signed the former Arizona Wildcat.

Watson won her NCAA title in a personal-best 54.52. She sits just outside the all-time top 10 of collegiate 400-meter hurdles athletes.

In 2016, she finished third at the NCAA D1 Outdoor Championships and went on to represent Canada at the Rio Olympics. In Rio, Watson finished fourth in her semifinal, failing to reach the final. However, she did anchor the Canadian 4x400 relay to a fourth-place finish.

During the indoor season, Watson broke the collegiate record in the 500 meters, running 1:08.40 at the Armory Track Invitational. She went on to finish third in the 400 meters at the NCAA D1 Indoor Championships, running 51.84, another personal best.

Total Sports US also announced the addition of three-time Olympic medalist Carmelita Jeter to the Total Sports management team. She will act as coordinator for the sprints and hurdles.
