Athletes were in action all over the Lower Mainland last weekend at the Longest Day Road Race in Point Grey/UBC and the Pacific Invitational / BC Masters Track & Field Championships in Langley.
Point Grey TFC continued their dominance in the local road racing scene last weekend at the Longest Day Road Race last Friday on the UBC Point Grey campus.
On the men's side, Sam Pawluk showed why he's leading the Timex BC Road Running Series, winning the 5 km in 14:53, while Ryan Huff, making his 2012 debut, placed seventh in 15:46, and Masters runner Carey Nelson rounded out the top-10 at 16:04.
In the women's 5 km, Sabrina Wilkie was the bridesmaid to Port Moody's Natasha Fraser, as Wilkie finished second in 17:21, while Fraser won in 16:43. Jen Moroz also had a strong showing after coming off a recent injury, placing 17th in 19:27.
Also, at the Pacific Invitational / BC Masters T&F Championships in Langley last weekend, Kirsten Lee ran the women's 3,000 m, clocking 11:05, and Carey Nelson took home the Masters M45 1,500 m run provincial title, running 4:26!
Many PG runners will head to Calgary next weekend for the Canadian Track & Field Championships / Olympic Trials. More news
