Bruchet- Can he win again?

Vancouver- The Point Grey track club men’s cross country team will look to defend their team title this upcoming Saturday at the Canadian Cross Country Championships on their home course at Jericho beach park. The one-two punch of Lucas Bruchet and Kelly Wiebe will guide the team through the 10-kilometer course at Jericho. Bruchet, the defending individual national champion, is coming off a superb performance at the Chiba Ekiden Relay, where he led Team Canada to their best overall time of all-time (2:09:28). Bruchet covered his 5km leg of the relay in a time of 13:35, just 2 seconds shy of his 5km track personal best of 13:33. Wiebe will look to challenge his teammate Bruchet for the individual title on Saturday. He was also a member of the record-breaking Canadian Chiba Ekiden relay team, running 29:14 for his 10km leg. Kevin Friesen and Theo Hunt are two Point Grey runners who will be looking to impress family and friends before the championship heads to Kingston in 2015. Hunt competed at the 2014 NACAC Cross Country Championships for Canada. Rounding out the team for Point Grey are Adam Byles and John Corbit. Additionally, UBC All-American Evan Elder could make an appearance on the start-line on Saturday for Point Grey. The Senior Men’s 10km race gets underway at 2:30pm.
