Vancouver - Kelly Wiebe led start to finish in the opening event of the Canada Running Series winning the Modo Spring Run off Vancouver 8km race with a time of 24:03, one week after finishing second at the St Patty's Day 5k. After several road appearances in recent weeks, Wiebe will move to the track and run the 10,000m at the Stanford Invitational in two weeks time.

Friesen and Byles were second and third, respectively, as Point Grey athletes finished first through third. Friesen finished in a time of 24:58 and Byles came through in 25:24 (chip time). It was Byles third race in as many weeks while Friesen competed at last weekend's St. Patty's 5k. 

Sabrina Wilkie was sixth on the women's side and 21st overall in a time of 28:21.
